Your ultimate guide to prep for your upcoming preview!

Schedule your trial.

Trials should be scheduled at least two months in advance and are typically done about ten weeks before the wedding. Changing trends or chronic indecision could lead to second-guessing if you book it too early in the planning process.

When scheduling your hair and makeup appointments, consider if you'll do both trials on the same day/time. If I am doing both, I will do them back to back or at the same time with my fellow artist. If you are only doing a hair or a makeup trial, I will encourage you to do your hair or makeup (whichever appointment you're not going to) a little better than usual, so you know how you will look on your wedding day!

Come alone.

Too many opinions can be overwhelming. Come alone to your preview, so you can relax and have fun! Plan a girl’s night out the same evening of your preview. This way you can see how your hair or makeup lasts after a night with girls!

Other things to consider the same day of your trial: your dress fitting, engagement photos, bridal shower, bachelorette party, or just a fun date night!

Come prepared.

This one is simple—Arrive With Clean Face and Hair. Moisturizer is OK, but nothing else. Also, bring your makeup bag.

Hair needs to be smoothed and dried. Please make sure your hair isn't greasy, wet, or in a topknot when I arrive. :) Wash your hair the night before and use little to no product (so it has time to regain its natural oils). If you need to do a little taming with a straightener or curling iron, that’s OK—don’t overdo it. You want your hair to be as natural as possible—this way, the majority of your trial isn’t spent on blow drying or smoothing your hair. Address any questions or concerns about preparing your hair before your preview.

Don't forget.

Bring the images of your wedding dress and flowers so that I can compliment your whole look. Also, don’t forget your earrings, necklace, veil, or a white button-down shirt! All of these things will help your vision come to life.

Lastly, let me know if you are thinking about hair extensions! I will help guide you on what kind to get and necessary to achieve your hair goals!

Ask questions.

Ask questions and take notes. Sometimes, it can be even more helpful to tell me what you don't like — especially if you're going in without a clear vision of your dream wedding day hairstyle. Do you prefer loose waves or tight curls? Sleek or huge volume? These cues will help me create the perfect look.

Bring photos. And lots of them. If you like elements of a couple of different hairstyles or makeup looks, bring pictures of all of them so I can use them to build one cohesive vision. Bring along photos of what you don't like, too, because your definition of a "smoky eye" might be much different from mine.

Have FUN & take pics.

Once you’re happy with your hair and makeup, it’s time to take pictures! You may also want to take both outdoor and indoor photos, especially if you’ll be taking pics outside on your big day. The more pictures you take, the easier it will be to create the look again.

Please let me know what else I can do to better prepare you for you upcoming preview!
